The fun started Friday morning with an Easter party with my mommy friends and their little ones. We were planning to play outside and hunt for eggs, but we got rained in. So we made the most of it with toys and snacks! Here's a shot of the fun...
Friday afternoon I finished some things around the house and took a much needed nap while Carter was napping (it has been a LONG week preparing for Easter services). Friday evening we attended our church Good Friday Communion and Reflection service. I always love spending time remembering the life, death and resurrection of our Lord. It was a sweet time prayer, remembering the cross and partaking in communion as a family. I am so thankful that Jesus gave the ultimate sacrifice, for me, one so undeserving, so that I could live!
We then went to eat some BBQ with some great people and finally headed home for the evening. Saturday I woke up to a very happy baby, who is loving to put all his "babies" "night-night" these days. See picture below :)
After a morning spent playing with my sweet boy, I had an hour or so to myself as I went to return a shirt I got for my birthday and picked up a few last minute Easter items. Thanks to my wonderful hubby who let me enjoy child-free shopping! And I got a great deal thanks to a 60% sale and a coupon...a $40 dress for $10. Woo hoo...i'll be breaking that out one day soon. Saturday afternoon I did a few chores around the house and got us ready for our evening. We went to my in-laws with the family to celebrate my birthday as well as have an easter egg hunt for the cousins.
The two big cousins found all their hidden eggs quickly and the two little cousins wandered around all their obvious eggs. And everyone enjoyed the playset!
Late Saturday evening was spent making lima beans, casserole and dessert for Easter lunch, as well a trip to church to correct some last minute things for sunday services. Then I finished up the Easter baskets so they would be ready for the next day!
He is Risen! He is Risen, Indeed! What a great day to celebrate! We began Easter with going to church. What a beautiful day, beautiful people and beautiful services. After dropping Carter off in the nursery, Brooks and I spent the morning filling in and finding areas to help. We greeted, helped at the info center and then at our largest service he drove the shuttle bus and I helped direct people to overflow chairs. Praise the Lord is was a packed house and the salvation message given and hopefully a seed was planted for those still seeking the truth found in Jesus. After church we snuck home to take a peek at our Easter baskets before finishing the full day ahead of us.
Then we went to my familys house to have Easter dinner and spend some time with each other. We managed to get a few pictures too :)
After Carters afternoon nap, we visited the other side of the family and had some yummy ham and potato salad. Carter and his cousin who is his age, chased each other around before we went home to settle in from our fun weekend. (sorry abt the fuzzy pic, it was the best one with two active 1 yr olds)
And, of course, before bed, we had to dig into our easter baskets one more time.
It was a wonderful weekend full of celebrating the reason for the season, friends and family. Thank you Lord for your many blessings!
